Ahead of Sankranti, Vizag school campuses decked up with rangolis
Visakhapatnam: Ahead of Sankranti festival, several schools in Visakhapatnam have transformed their campuses into vibrant colours of creativity. Students of these schools, before going on vacation for Sankranti, have made colourful rangolis, giving campuses a festive look.
The façade of the school campuses has been carrying intricate rangoli design created by enthusiastic students. The efforts by these students have garnered praise for their creative outpourings from parents and teachers.
K. Sreelakmi, maths teacher at a private school, speaking to Deccan Chronicle, said, “Participating in the rangoli decoration helps in increasing the concentration level of a student. The rangoli shall be drawn and coloured before the water on the floor dries up. Hence, this activity teaches children how to achieve speed and accuracy simultaneously.”
“On the other, the detailed design and precision required in making rangolis serve the dual purpose of developing focus and concentration. Moreover, these practical sessions offer students an opportunity to learn about the cultural significance associated with the Sankranti festival. By participating in these activities, students gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of their cultural roots.”
M. Bhaskari, a school principal, told Deccan Chronicle, “Rangoli is not just an art form. It is a way to connect with our tradition. Through these activities, students learn about the importance of the festival and develop a sense of pride for their culture.”
