Visakhapatnam: The Bojjannakonda buddhist destination light and sound show will be inaugurated virtually on World Tourism Day on September 27, in a move to boost tourism and showcase the rich Buddhist heritage of Andhra Pradesh. The inauguration will be presided over by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and minister for tourism Kandula Durgesh Garla.Bojjannakonda, located in the picturesque Anakapalli district, is a significant Buddhist heritage site dating back thousands of years. The hilltop destination features monolithic stupas, rock-cut caves with intricate carvings, prayer halls, and remnants of an ancient vihara or monastery.

"Bojjanna Hill is a very pleasant place with beautiful surroundings and a serene atmosphere," said District Collector Vijaya Krishnan. "We have set up a tourist amenity centre and a state-of-the-art light and sound system to enhance the visitor experience and promote this important heritage site."

Bojjannakonda is considered one of the most valuable archaeological treasures in India, with well-preserved structures that offer a glimpse into the region's Buddhist past. The light and sound show is expected to attract more tourists to the site and boost the local economy.

"The government is committed to developing Bojjannakonda in all aspects and preserving this important part of our history for future generations," added Collector Krishnan.
