Andhra Pradesh: Jagan Assures Legal Support to Harassed Social Media Activist
Vijayawada: Former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy assured social media activist Puli Sagar of full legal support after the latter was allegedly harassed and arrested by the police in Rajamahendravaram. The former Chief Minister claimed that the activist, a Dalit, was subjected to police harassment by the Rajahmundry police. He stated that the issue would be raised with the National Human Rights Commission and the National SC/ST Commission.
Earlier, the victim told the media at the party office that the Rajamahendravaram inspector had detained him in a lock-up, beaten him, harassed him, and used caste-based abuses against him.
Former MP Margani Bharat and former MLA T.J.R. Sudhakar Babu, who accompanied Puli Sagar, alleged that the government was harassing social media activists by filing false cases against them. They claimed multiple cases were being registered for the same issue in different locations to target the activists. "We will pursue legal remedies and support the activists," they added.
