Chittoor police bags award for best crime detection

Tirupati: The Chittoor district police have been honoured with the prestigious Award for Best Crime Detection (ABCD) by the Andhra Pradesh police for their swift investigation and resolution of a high-profile ATM theft case.
The case, which occurred on July 7, 2024, in Gudipala Mandal, involved an inter-state criminal. Swift action and strategic use of modern technology by the Chittoor sub-division's West Circle Police led to the arrest of the suspect within a record time. This achievement secured them the first prize in the ABCD awards, which are presented every quarter to recognise outstanding crime detection across the state.
The award ceremony took place at the DGP office in Vijayawada, where the director general of police, C.H. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, presented the honour in presence of additional DGP CID, Ravi Shankar, and IG law & order, Srikanth.
Chittoor superintendent of police, V.N. Manikanta Chandolu, along with former West CI Ravishankar Reddy and technical team members Devarajulu (ASI), Gopi, and Naveen, received the award, which included a cash prize of ₹1 lakh.
The DGP praised the efforts of the officials. He commended the Chittoor district police for their skill and dedication, emphasising their role as a model for crime detection in the state.
