Visakhapatnam: A severe outbreak of diarrhoea has struck Bharanikkam village in Parawada mandal of Visakhapatnam, prompting urgent action from the district administration. On Wednesday, ten individuals suffering from diarrhoea sought treatment at the Parawada Primary Health Centre. Some patients were transferred to private hospitals in Visakhapatnam for better medical care, according to Gani Shetty Satyanarayana, the CITU district vice-president. Satyanarayana and VV Srinivasa Rao, the CPM treasurer for the Anakapalle district, visited the PHC centre and later toured Bharanikkam village.

Villagers reported that Ramky management has been discharging wastewater into the Rasani at Molladi Gadda, significantly polluting the groundwater and causing illnesses in Bharanikkam. The residents are calling for immediate action against Ramky’s management, citing a report from the Pollution Control Board indicating increased pollution in Mollodi Gadda.

The villagers are urging authorities to safeguard public health in Parawada, Tanam, and Tadi and to address environmental concerns related to air, soil, and water pollution. Those affected by diarrhoea in Bharanikkam continue to seek treatment at private hospitals in Visakhapatnam.
