Father jailed for life for sexually assaulting daughter

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Special POCSO Court sentenced a 39-year-old father to life imprisonment until death for sexually assaulting his 14-year-old daughter repeatedly over a four-month period in 2020.

The assault resulted in the minor becoming pregnant and giving birth to a male child.

Following the victim's disclosure, Fourth Town police registered a case, investigated it, launched prosecution and got the accused convicted.

The court has ordered the convict to pay a fine of Rs 30,000, apart from a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the victim.

In view of the physical and mental trauma inflicted upon the young survivor, the court directed the state government to provide an additional Rs 5 lakh as compensation.

The victim's mother had passed away, leaving her in the care of her father. He took advantage of the situation and repeatedly assaulted the minor sexually.
