Andhra Pradesh Health Department to Conduct Filaria Survey in Pedapenki

Visakhapatnam: Parvathipuram Manyam district collector A. Shyam Prasad announced that a Filaria survey would be conducted in Pedapenki from November 4-6 to identify cases of the disease. The announcement came during a review meeting of the medical and health activities at the collectorate on Wednesday.

Following instructions from Deputy Chief Minister Konidela Pawan Kalyan, the district administration, has initiated comprehensive measures to combat the disease. “We have secured Rs 3.73 crore for the construction of drainage systems spanning 4.80 kilometres in Pedapenki gram panchayat,’ the collector said.

The meeting also addressed other key health initiatives in the district. An anemia action committee will be formed, comprising medical and health staff, Anganwadi workers and self help group members to monitor and motivate affected individuals.

The collector has directed medical officers to intensify Tuberculosis screening, particularly in Bhamini and Battili PHC areas. Additionally, cancer screening programmes will be implemented to detect cervical and oral cancers, alongside public awareness campaigns.

Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) organisation will conduct screening camps for artificial limbs across the district at Saluru on November 19, Palakonda on November 21 and at Parvatipuram on November 23.
