Jagan tells YSRC MPs to be brave and fight for people’s causes
VIJAYAWADA: YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has told the party MPs to be brave and fight for the people’s causes even as the party faced reverses in the general elections in AP.
“We can make an impact in Parliament since we have 15 MPs (11 Rajya Sabha and 4 Lok Sabha members) while the Telugu Desam has 16,” he said during a meeting with the party MPs on Friday.
He met the party MPs at Tadepalli, collected their opinions about the recent elections and interacted with them on the strategies to be followed in the scheduled parliament sessions.
The former chief minister announced, “Like before, V Vijayasai Reddy will continue as the party leader in the Rajya Sabha, PV Mithun Reddy will be the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha and Y.V. Subba Reddy will be the leader of the parliamentary party. I am available to everyone. All the MPs should sit together, discuss and take steps to that effect.”
“Every step you take as MPs should be to enhance the reputation of the party,” he told them.
Jagan Mohan Reddy urged the party members to stay strong, assuring them that the party would return to power. He expressed confidence that people would compare the performances of the YSRC and Telugu Desam governments over the present term and hoist the YSRC back to power.
Speaking to MPs and senior party leaders, the party chief encouraged them to uphold values and credibility. “We provided excellent administration and fulfilled our manifesto promises. No other political party in Andhra Pradesh's history has achieved such a success,” Jagan Mohan Reddy said.
The former CM asserted, “Despite global challenges from the Covid-19 outbreak, we did our best for the people.”
He highlighted the significant reforms his government introduced in education, health and agriculture to benefit the public. He also mentioned that the YSRC government brought the administration to the people's doorstep, implemented various schemes in a fair manner and ensured there was no corruption.
Jagan Mohan Reddy accused the TD and its allies of false propaganda against the YSRC government over the Land Title Act. He recalled that the Land act was brought by the BJP government at the Centre and the state followed up on this with support from the Telugu Desam in the Assembly.
He stated, “As a part of social engineering, we have provided opportunities to various SC, ST, BC and minority communities. It is very surprising that the results of the election have come like this despite bringing such significant changes. Looks like the results of these elections have come like bad omens. God knows what really happened.”
