Lokesh Hosts 51st Praja Darbar, Addresses Public Concerns

Vijayawada: Education, IT and electronics minister Nara Lokesh hosted the 51st Praja Darbar at his residence in Undavalli of Vijayawada on Friday, assuring those who gave representations that he will work towards resolving their issues.

Requests made by a large number of people related to social security pensions, jobs and employment opportunities, medical assistance, and protection of their lands from encroachers, among others.

People belonging to the Munnuru Kapu community from Telangana, who have permanently migrated to AP and have taken up various jobs, including as porters at AP State Beverages Corporation Limited (APSBCL), sought caste certificates under the BC-D category. They claimed that even though the official gazette says these certificates could be issued, officials are not doing so.

T. Ramu of Visakhapatnam sought to fill up 80 backlog posts for persons with disabilities remaining vacant in Andhra University. These posts have remained vacant for the past 15 years. A rapid resolution would help persons with disabilities, Ramu stated.

Representatives of the Computer Teachers Welfare Association requested Minister Lokesh to give priority to former computer teachers who served from 2002 to 2008 when filling the upcoming positions of computer operators and teachers in government schools.

Residents of Jagananna Colony in Athmakur constituency of Mangalagiri district sought from Lokesh construction of a bypass road for better connectivity and allocation of land for a cremation ground. They also requested for proper drinking water supply.

A woman Bulamma from Bukkapatnam in Sri Sathya Sai district sought justice from the minister saying a YSRC leader Eedarapalli Ram Mohan drove her son Mekala Gautam to suicide after the latter lodge a complaint against the YSRC leader. Bulamma told Lokesh that after she had lodged a complaint with Bukkapatnam police station, Ram Mohan has been threatening to annihilate her entire family if she did not take back her complaint.

Jagadeesh Kumar of Gopalapuram in NTR district said a person named K. Prasad from Choutuppal had taken Rs 5 lakh from him promising a government job. He gave the amount after taking a loan. Lokesh informed all who gave his representations that he will follow up on their issues with the authorities concerned.
