Low pressure brings rains to coastal AP, Rayalaseema

VISHAKHAPATNAM: A low-pressure area formed over the west central Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh brought heavy rains to south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on Tuesday.
Heavy rains are forecast for the next two days (Nov 13 and 14) in parts of south coastal as well as Rayalaseema districts of Andhra Pradesh.
IMD said that the rains would occur under the influence of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal in parts of the Tirupati, Annamayya, Chittoor, YSR Kadapa, Prakasam and Bapatla districts.

It said the associated cyclonic circulation now extended up to 4.5km above mean sea level, tilting south-westwards with height. Additionally, the trough from southwest Bay of Bengal to west central Bay of Bengal off north coastal Andhra Pradesh has become less marked.
Squally weather with a wind speed of 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail along and off the south Andhra Pradesh coast on Wednesday and Thursday.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during the two days.
In the last 24 hours in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kavali (SPSR Nellore) received 5.4cm of rainfall, Nellore 3.7cm and Kandukur (SASR Nellore) 3cm. In Rayalaseema region, Sullurpeta (Tirupati) received 4.6cm of rainfall, Gudur (Tirupati) 3.1cm and Venkatagiri (Tirupati) 1.2cm.
