More Rains for AP, Monsoon Advances

VISHAKHAPATNAM: The Southwest monsoon has further advanced into more parts of central Arabian Sea; most parts of Karnataka, Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

IMD on Thursday said conditions were favourable for further advance of Southwest monsoon into more parts of central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Karnataka and coastal Andhra Pradesh, more parts of Telangana, remaining parts of west central and more parts of northwest Bay of Bengal during the next three to four days.

A cyclonic circulation over Rayalaseema and neighbouring north Rayalaseema and its neighbourhood at 3.1 km above mean sea level persisted.

Under its influence, heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Rayalaseema as also thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places over north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema till June 10. Gusty winds with speed reaching 30-40 kmph are likely over these areas.

During the last 24 four hours, Kakikaluru of Eluru district received 8 cm of rainfall followed by Narasapuram 7.5 cm, Nuzvid 7.2 cm and Macherla 7.2 cm.

The rains brought down the temperature to an average of 35 degrees Celsius all over the state.
