Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has said the government would encourage the setting up of micro, small and medium industries in villages in ways to benefit farmers.

Food processing units can come up by making use of the state’s horticulture and aqua crops, he said at a review meeting he held here on MSME and food processing departments on Thursday.

Naidu suggested implementing the policy of setting up parks for micro, small and medium industries with the participation of farmers who own land.

He said the state government accords highest priority to the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as they provide employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister felt that if the state government encouraged MSMEs, good results would follow.

"The MSME parks, work on which have been pending for since long, will be completed very soon and these will be provided with necessary facilities. "I want farmers to have a share in the MSME parks in the respective areas," he said, adding that farmers who own lands can set up such parks in their lands for their own benefit, on the lines of forming Amaravati.

When the officials informed the Chief Minister that a similar system existed in Pune, the chief minister directed them to study the policy and implement it in a better manner in AP. He also told the officials to make licences easy for establishing such industries.

"Frame a policy through which the permission can be sanctioned automatically if it is delayed beyond a specific time," he said.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to interlink Dwcra groups with MSMEs and felt the need to release the incentives to industries, which were pending since a long. The Auto Nagars should be modernised so that service facilities can be provided even to electric vehicles, he said.

Naidu announced that Rs 100 cr will be allocated as a credit guarantee for MSMEs.

He felt that the food processing industry has great opportunities in AP. The industry can get more profits through horticulture and aquaculture products. He said organic farming products will have great demand in future and told the officials to encourage such farming.
