VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has promised to extend governmental assistance and support to all in the flood-hit areas. Speaking to the media persons here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister expressed concern over the plight of the affected people due to the rain and floods in the last three days.
Naidu said, “We deployed six choppers and 30 drones for distribution of food and other essentials to the affected persons. In the purview of 179 ward secretariats, one senior officer has been appointed for each secretariat to oversee flood relief.” Food stuff is being reached to the affected people by tractors, vans and boats. As many as 32 senior officers are supervising the rescue and relief operations, he said.
“We have arranged food from 10 districts and are providing it to the affected people thrice a day.”
He said, “In the last two days, the people suffered a lot. I want to avail all means to ensure that the affected people got immediate relief. Officials have been assigned the responsibilities in this respect for each affected area.”
Naidu has asked the officials in each area to avoid gathering large numbers at one place to collect food. “Reach the dwellings of the people and give them food,” he said.
Each boat, he said, should have four staff members besides one person each from octopus and greyhound.
He said snakes were entering houses along with the floodwaters, causing more concern to the people. He advised the affected people to restrain themselves even if there was some delay in organising the rescue and relief.
Naidu called upon the people across the state to extend support to the flood-hit people by offering food or other essentials to them.
