Naidu to visit Polavaram project

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is set to visit the Polavaram irrigation project in the second week of December to release the construction schedule for its completion.

Minister for water resources Nimmala Ramanaidu announced on Tuesday that the Chief Minister has directed officials to ensure the project is completed by 2027. A detailed timeline will be unveiled during the visit.

Regarding the Handri-Neeva project, the minister stated that work would commence between December 2024 and January 2025. He criticised the previous YSR Congress government for neglecting the Chinthalapudi and Veligonda projects.

On the interlinking of rivers such as Godavari, Krishna, and Penna, the minister reaffirmed the Chief Minister's commitment to implementing the initiative. Officials have been instructed to devise an action plan to execute the interlinking with minimal costs, engaging two or three agencies.
