Nandyal MP urges timely use of Central funds

Kurnool: Nandyal MP Dr. Byreddy Shabari expressed concern that a good amount of central funds were unutilised and returned in the past and urged officials to complete works under 43 welfare schemes across 25 departments in time. She highlighted the central funds to the tune of `700 crore left unused in the education sector and directed agricultural officials to establish a seed hub in Nandikotkur. Speaking at a meeting in the Nandyal Collectorate on Tuesday, she emphasised the need to encourage farmers to utilize the 60 per cent subsidy provided by the Center under various agriculture schemes to ensure profitability.

The MP requested the collector to take measures to form a committee to monitor employment guarantee work at the Mandal level. District collector G. Raja Kumari suggested issuing soil health cards to farmers and directed horticulture officials to expand oil palm cultivation in the district. Additionally, she requested MP Shabari to arrange ladders for 37 overhead storage tanks from ZP funds. Joint Zilla Parishad chairman Y. Papi Reddy called for new tap connections and the construction of new overhead storage tanks to replace old ones under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
