Vijayawada: A journalist from a vernacular TV channel was seriously injured in a politically motivated attack at Gudivada in Krishna district on Saturday night.

According to reports, Mahesh extensively covered the 2024 elections in Gudivada assembly constituency. He was branded as a supporter of former minister and YSRC leader Kodali Venkateswara Rao alias Nani.
When he was returning home from a barber shop, unknown persons roughed him up. Mahesh received severe injuries on his face and other parts of the body. Locals hearing the screams of Mahesh rushed to the spot and the culprits ran away.
Mahesh’s condition was stable, doctors at a hospital where he underwent treatment said. Leaders of the YSRC said the attack was staged at the instance of the alliance party leaders, and demanded stern action against the culprits.
