Six workers fall Ill at Camphor Manufacturing Unit in Anantapur

Anantapur: Six workers fell sick, two of them seriously, during the cleaning of debris from a storage pump at a camphor manufacturing unit on the outskirts of Anantapur on Friday. The camphor manufacturing unit is located in Garladinne mandal, near NH 44.

Sources reported that two workers assigned to clear the debris from a dump fell ill due to adverse gases released from the site. Alerted to the incident, four other workers rushed to the spot to assist the two who were trapped and also suffered serious illness. Authorities were alerted, and all the workers were transported to a private hospital in Anantapur.
Suharai, Harinath Babu, Krishna, Lakshmi Narayana, Nagendra Prasad, and Obulesu were shifted to KIMS Hospital, with two of them reported to be in serious condition due to inhalation of noxious fumes from the storage dump.
