Kakinada: Three members of a family were murdered during a clash with another family in Salapaka village in Kajuluru mandal of Kakinada district, on Thursday night. According to Kakinada Rural circle inspector D. S. Chaitanya Krishna, Potlakayala Nageswara Rao and Bathula Chinnayya live in adjacent houses in the village. Previously, Chinnayya had an extramarital affair with Babi, the wife of Nageswara Rao. This issue was brought to the attention of the village elders, who reprimanded both Chinnayya and Babi. Following this, Babi ended her affair with Chinnayya. However, Chinnayya continued to verbally abuse Nageswara Rao and Babi with foul language while intoxicated.

On Diwali, when Nageswara Rao and his family were at home, Chinnayya began insulting them again. Unable to tolerate the abuse, Nageswara Rao, his son, and his wife confronted Chinnayya. A violent altercation ensued, with both parties exchanging blows. Meanwhile, Chinnayya, along with his brothers Srinu and Raju and his son Ramesh, joined the fray and fought against the other group. In the ensuing conflict, Bathula Chinnayya, his son Ramesh, and his brother Raju were killed on the spot, while Bathula Srinu was injured and subsequently admitted to the Government General Hospital in Kakinada. The Gollapalem police have registered a case, and Chaitanya Krishna is investigating the matter.
