Tirupati Court Imposes Heavy Penalties for Drunk Driving

TIRUPATI: The forth Additional Judicial Magistrate Court in Tirupati has imposed stringent penalties on drunk driving offenders, including jail sentences and substantial fines.

According to Traffic DSP Ramakrishna Achari, 26 individuals caught driving under the influence during recent police operations have been fined `10,000 each, totalling `2,60,000. Nine of these offenders received jail terms in addition to fines.
Judge Grandhi Srinivas sentenced seven individuals to two days in jail, while two others, found with excessively high blood alcohol levels, received three-day sentences.
District SP L. Subba Rayudu praised the efforts of the traffic police and warned of continued strict enforcement. “This crackdown is part of the Tirupati police’s broader initiative to enhance road safety,” SP Rayudu stated.
