Visakhapatnam: The construction of the Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum in Tajam village of Lambasingi, Chintapalli mandal is facing delays and is not expected to be completed by the end of this year. It was initially planned to be completed by the end of December 2021. Despite a timeline, the construction of the buildings is still ongoing.

In his Independence Day Speech on August 15, 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the establishment of Tribal Freedom Fighters Museums to preserve and showcase the history of tribal fighters who played a crucial role in the country's freedom struggle against British rule. However, progress on this ambitious project in Lambasingi has been hindered.

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the AP state government have decided to construct the museum at the cost of Rs 35 crore. Several meetings were held and decisions were made. State government officials were given an exposure visit to Virasat-e-Khalsa Museum in Anandpur Sahib, Punjab, and Manav Sangrahalaya in Bhopal to acquaint them with designing a museum in sync with its storyline and use of technology.

When Deccan Chronicle questioned the cause of the delay, Alluri Sita Ramaraju district executive engineer D. V. R. M. Raju cited unfavourable weather conditions as the primary reason. He said, “Although there were directives to complete the project by November of the current year, work has been halted for the past two months. The project is now anticipated to be finished by the following year.”
