Vijayawada: Vijayawada MP, Kesineni Sivanath alias Chinni, has sought inclusion of Anganwadi centres under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (solar project) in an address of the Lok Sabha on Friday.

The issue was raised in the house under Rule 377. The MP highlighted the critical role of Anganwadi centres in ensuring a healthy environment for children in rural areas.
He said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has allocated Rs 75,021 crore to implement the PM Bijli Yojana across the country by the 2026-27 financial year. The initiative focuses on installing rooftop solar panels on government buildings by 2025."
Sivanath said Andhra Pradesh has 55,607 Anganwadi centres but 8,455 of them lacked power connection. “During the summer, power supply interruptions in rural areas severely affect these centres, causing significant inconvenience to children. This disruption has a negative impact on children's attendance and the quality of care they receive,” he said.
