Visakhapatnam Ready for Counting with 3-Tier Security
Visakhapatnam: District Collector and District Election Officer A. Mallikarjuna, alongside City Police Commissioner Ravi Shankar Ayyanar, announced the completion of arrangements for the vote counting process. Emphasizing the importance of security, they said a three-tier security system has been put in place at the strong rooms.
The Collector detailed the extensive preparations, stating 104 tables have been set up for Parliament constituencies and 98 for the legislative Assembly constituencies. A total of 21 counting halls have been designated, with 7 reserved for postal ballots and the remaining for EVM counts. He further stated that to ensure smooth and secure operations, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) has been appointed to each constituency.
He stated that each counting center will be staffed with counting supervisors, counting assistants, and micro observers and access will be strictly controlled, with only those possessing identity cards issued by the Central Election Commission, District Election Officer, and Returning Officer allowed entry and further the political party agents will be required to remain within the counting centers until the process concludes, with no cross-constituency movement permitted.
City Police Commissioner Ayyanar stated that additional security protocols included the closure of liquor shops from midnight on June 3 to midnight on June 4th and also security and barricading arrangements are thoroughly being checked
