Viskhapatnam: Bodies of teacher, warden to be flown to Haryana

A teacher and warden working at Eklavya Model Residential School in Parvathipuram Manyam district, were drowned when they tried to cross a swollen causeway while they were returning to their homes in Pachipenta on Friday.

Visakhapatnam: The bodies of teacher Arti and warden Mahesh will be flown to their native homes in Haryana, said minister for women & child welfare and tribal welfare Gummidi Sandhya Rani. Both of them, working at Eklavya Model Residential School in Parvathipuram Manyam district, were drowned when they tried to cross a swollen causeway while they were returning to their homes in Pachipenta on Friday.

Talking to the media in Makkuva close to the accident site on Saturday, Rani said the government would stand by the families of the teachers. She added that one from each family might be given a government job, as per the instructions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
She said local people warned them not to cross the stream but the teacher and warden duo could not understand them due to language problems.
She said the authorities were alerted immediately after the incident and the local tahsildar and the police quickly responded and reached the place where the incident took place and carried out search operations. The teacher’s body was found on Friday evening while the warden’s on Saturday morning.
The minister said the Chief Minister had spoken to the family members and consoled them. She said the Chief Minister assured the government’s support to the bereaved members of the two families.
The minister said arrangements have been made to transport the bodies of the teacher and warden to their state in a dignified manner.
She said district collector A. Shyam Prasad has taken all the steps to this effect. Post-mortem is being conducted at the Vizianagaram government hospital and would be taken to Visakhapatnam airport on way to Delhi.
