VPA aims to achieve 90mt turnover this fiscal

Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam Port Authority is making remarkable strides towards achieving its target of 90 million metric tonnes of cargo handling for the fiscal year 2024-25.
As of now, VPA has handled 55mmt of cargo in 249 days, setting a record. Last year, VPA achieved its highest-ever cargo handling of 81.09 million tonnes.
Strengthening its efforts, VPA organised a stakeholders’ meet in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering, M Angamuthu, chairperson of VPA, acknowledged the invaluable contributions of stakeholders, the state and district administrations, and the public sector undertakings like railways, customs and NHAI. He appreciated their support in achieving this milestone and emphasized the need for continued collaboration to reach greater heights.
The chairperson invited stakeholders to share inputs for finalizing a comprehensive master plan, which is set to be ready by Feb 2025.
Visakhapatnam district collector Harendira Prasad, GVMC commissioner Sampath Kumar and others were present. The officials praised VPA and its team for their tremendous efforts in greenery and beautification of Vizag City and Port’s unstinted support for the development of community through CSR funds.
The event also saw the participation of Hemanth Katri, CMD, Hindustan Shipyard, N Sridhar, principal commissioner, Customs and GST, and GK Dhall, chief commissioner, IT.
