Complete Flood Prevention Work by Sep

Chennai: State Minister for Water Resources Duraimurugan had instructed officials to complete all flood prevention work and other precautionary measures taken in connection with the monsoon to be completed before September 30.

A slew of work has been taken up in the districts of Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Cuddalore districts to clear water bodies of all flotsam and water plants like hyacinth. Rs 38.50 crore has been sanctioned for the preventive work and Rs 510 crore have been allotted for undertaking permanent work to stop floods.
