Tamil Nadu CM Stalin leaves for Delhi to meet PM
Chennai: Chief Minister M K Stalin left by a scheduled Vistara Airlines flight to New Delhi on Thursday to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and prevail upon him to release funds due to Tamil Nadu under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) scheme and for the second phase of the Chennai Metro Rail project.
Stalin, besides meeting the Prime Minister on Friday, will also be calling on the family of late CPM stalwart Sitaram Yechuri in New Delhi before returning by a Vistara Airline flight in the evening.
Though the Chief Minister did not speak to the media at the airport, it has already been said that the DMK government would fight for the States’ rights.
Since a series of official communications urging the Union Government to unlock the funds meant for the State and its welfare failed to evoke any positive response, Stalin decided to personally call on Modi and request him to release the funds.
