Nizamabad: Government Railway Police, along with prohibition and excise officials, seized approximately 100 kg of black jaggery from the Devagiri Express at Kamareddy railway station on Thursday.
Acting on a tip off, the authorities conducted the search but did not find anyone accompanying the prohibited jaggery during transportation.
The Devagiri Express, en route to Secunderabad from Mumbai, was intercepted on Thursday. Authorities suspect that the black jaggery is being used in the manufacture of illicit distilled liquor.
Following the seizure, the railway police registered a case and have started an investigation.
