65-yrs-old Gets 3-yr Term For Assaulting Minor

Karimnagar: A 65-year-old person identified as Chipelli Mallaiah was sentenced to three years imprisonment after finding him guilty of sexually assaulting a minor girl here in Rajanna Sircilla district on Friday. Principal District and Sessions judge N. Prema Latha (In-charge of Pocso Court)sentenced the accused to three years of imprisonment along with a fine of `2,000.

The incident took place six years back in Ellanthakunta mandal. The accused Mallaiah, who was living alone, lured the girl into his house by offering her biscuits and sexually assaulted her. When the girl informed her mother about the incident, she filed a complaint with the Ellanthakunta police station. Registering the case under the Pocso Act, SI Chandrasekhar conducted an investigation and submitted the required evidence to the court along with a lodging charge sheet.

Speaking on the occasion, SP Akhil Mahajan said the police are working in coordination with the Courts to secure sentences for those who commit crimes against women and children at the earliest. He appreciated public prosecutor Penta Srinivas, investigation officer SI Chandrasekhar and court constables Naveen and Narendar for putting efforts to secure the sentence for the accused.
