Hyderabad: BJP vice-president and Mahbubnagar MP D.K. Aruna asked party workers to focus on the ongoing membership drive, as it would play a key role to get the party winning power in the state as well as the forthcoming local bodies polls.

Taking part in a workshop in Mahbubnagar ahead of the membership drive programme, Aruna asked each party worker to enrol at least 100 new members. “The party can come to power in the state when it gains strength in the local bodies,” she said. Those who enrol more members would be made booth presidents.

Aruna asked the party workers to explain the current political conditions in the state to the people and explained the role that women and youths play in strengthening the party.

“Many expressed doubts over my victory in the Lok Sabha polls as the Congress has seven MLAs. Our party workers worked with utmost commitment and that helped me win the polls,” Aruna said.

Referring to the conditions in Bangladesh, Aruna underscored the need for Hindu unity in the country. “The country becomes weak if Hindus in this country do not unite,” she said.
