Adilabad: In response to the state government’s decision to launch a comprehensive survey assessing the socio-economic and caste details of Telangana’s population, district officials have begun preparations for the caste census, set to commence on November 6. Trained enumerators have been pasting stickers on identified houses, and the household survey will be conducted in gram panchayats and municipalities across the districts. The enumerators will collect individual details of family members and the head of each family, while supervisors will randomly cross-check 10 percent of the collected household data to ensure accuracy.
Additionally, the enumerators will gather information about Gulf workers who are employed in Gulf countries. Each enumerator has been assigned a maximum of 150 families per block. The data collection phase will run from November 6 to November 18, with data entry scheduled from November 19 to November 27. Officials will reference the 2011 census figures during the survey.
Adilabad district collector Rajarshi Shaw visited Tamsi-K-K village in Bheempur Mandal, as well as Riksha Colony and Sriram Colony in Adilabad town on Friday. During his visit, the collector inquired about the process of identifying households and pasting stickers as identifying marks. He emphasised that household identification should be completed by November 3 and instructed officials to cover all households without excluding any.
Preparations for the caste census have also commenced in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district, where collector Venkatesh Dhotre personally supervised the enumerators and supervisors. He visited Kerameri Gram Panchayat to inspect the preparations for household identification for the survey. Komaram Bheem Asifabad district comprises 335 gram panchayats and two municipalities, and 1,400 enumerators — 15 per cent more than required — have been deputed to collect the necessary details.
