Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy inspected the rainwater-holding structure built near Lake View Guest House, to prevent flooding when during downpours.

He said that traffic jams could be reduced during the rains if the floodwater was quickly taken off the roads.

He directed the municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) officials to construct similar rainwater-holding structures near 141 major waterlogging points in different parts of the city, and complete the work before the monsoon next year.

The Chief Minister made several suggestions to the officials on measures to curb urban flooding. One of the suggestions included changing the design of the structures that are yet to be constructed.

Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, MA&UD principal secretary M. Dana Kishore, GHMC commissioner K. Ilambarithi and Chief Minister’s special secretary Ajith Reddy were present.

The Chief Minister will inaugurate the rainwater-holding structure along with other infrastructure projects.
