Hyderabad: Sri Ganesh Utsav Samithi (SGUC) has invited the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for performing special puja at the towering Khairatabad Ganesh idol on Saturday as part of 11-day colourful Vinayaka Chaturthi festival commencing from September 7.

The samithi led by the Congress MLA D Nagender met the Chief Minister at his residence in Jubilee Hills and extended an invitation to him amid vedic chants by priests on Thursday. Artisans, who came from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, completed the works for worshipping the 70-feet height idol. The samithi decided to worship a 70-feet height idol coinciding with its 70th year this time. A Ganesh idol was installed for the first time at Khairatabad library in 1954.
