Hyderabad: HMWSSB to Clean 1,395 km of Sewage Pipelines, Over 1 lakh Manholes

HMWSSB launched 90-day action plan to prevent sewage water from overflowing on roads.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has launched a 90-day action plan that started on October 2, 2024, to prevent sewage water from overflowing on roads. As part of the initiative, the board is focusing on clearing the accumulated sludge from sewage pipelines across the city.

The action plan includes the removal of sludge from 1,395 km of pipelines and cleaning 107,000 manholes in 11,101 areas. Additionally, there are proposals to construct 11 km of new pipelines to further improve the sewage system.
To support this, 144 vehicles have been deployed and a total of 10,105 cubic meters of sludge has been removed so far. The plan is focused to improve the city’s drainage system and prevent water overflow on the roads.
