JICA Project Sees Basavatarakam Hospital Train Government Doctors

The Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute, which is the nodal centre for training surgical oncologists from different states under a programme assisted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), on Saturday said it has completed the training of a first batch of doctors under the programme/ Doctors working in government hospitals in Tamil Nadu comprised the first batch.  Hyderabad: The Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute, which is the nodal centre for training surgical oncologists from different states under a programme assisted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), on Saturday said it has completed the training of a first batch of doctors under the programme/ Doctors working in government hospitals in Tamil Nadu comprised the first batch.

Dr T. Subramanyeshwar Rao, medical director and head, surgical oncology department of the Basavatarakam hospital, said, “this strategic partnership is expected to be a game-changer, widening treatment options in specialised cancer care offered at government hospitals. Providing advanced training and mentorship, we are proud to be a part of this pertinent effort that will no doubt bring substantial benefits to those battling gynecological cancers."

The programme, assisted by JICA, followed a memorandum of understanding to formalize the training partnership between the International Development Center of Japan, a leading Japanese consulting firm in Japan responsible for the technical aspects of the project and the Basavatarakam hospital.
