Man Attempts Suicide at Begumpet Police Station

Hyderabad:A 28-year-old man who had come to attend counselling with his estranged wife attempted suicide at the Begumpet women's police station (WPS) on Monday. The incident occurred at 4.45 pm after the victim, K. Akhil, argued with inspector K. Satyanarayana, police said.

Akhil suffered injuries and was taken to the Gandhi Hospital where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

“I was coming down the stairs, explaining Akhil to not consume ganja and harass his wife. All of a sudden, he started abusing his wife, and attempted suicide,” Satyanarayana said.

The couple was married in 2019 and has a five-year-old kid, Akhil, a resident of Tukaramgate, was said to be sexually harassing his wife who went to stay with her parents. Akhil was said to be threatening his wife for four months, following which she complained lodged complaints with the Ramgopalpet and Tukaramgate police and sought protection. The police referred the case to the WPS. As the wife wanted to be separate, the police suggested that the couple divorce.
