Hyderabad: State excise minister Jupally Krishna Rao announced that measures are being taken to strengthen the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TG-NAB). He emphasised the need for cooperation between the excise, police, and railway police departments to combat the drug menace effectively.

Speaking at a meeting on International Anti-Drug Day, Rao expressed concern over drug consumption among school and college students. He stated, "The state government is acting against drugs with an iron hand. Parents, students, youth, and women's organisations need to play a critical role in this fight."

Minister Seethakka highlighted the spread of drug issues to villages, leading to crimes against women and even murders. She cited a recent incident in Peddapalli as a cause for concern and warned that drug use jeopardizes the future of the youth.

A video featuring senior actor Chiranjeevi campaigning against drugs was released at the event. Attendees included former cricket captain Mithali Raj, senior actors Suman and Teja Sajja, DGP Ravi Gupta, excise commissioner Sridhar, director general of Drug Control Authority Kamalasan Reddy, and TG-NAB director Sandeep Sandilya.
