Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), which probing the case related to disproportionate assets (DA) allegedly amassed by the Central Crime Station (CCS) Assistant Commissioner of Police TS Uma Maheswara Rao, widened its investigation to know the total number of properties acquired by him since his service in the police department.

During simultaneous raids carried out by the ACB in more than a dozen places in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the ACB detected 17 properties, Rs.39 lakh in cash, gold ornaments weighing 60 tolas. The ACB officials said the value of the seized properties would be around Rs.3.5 crore but the market value would be three times more.

“We will be able to ascertain the total value of the seized properties especially open plots in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with the help of property valuators only,” an official associated with the investigation. Sources said Rao, who was an Investigator Officer (IO) of the case related to Sahithi Infra, allegedly failed to conduct proper probe to render justice to the victims including an NRI.

After remanding him to judicial custody after producing him before the special court for ACB cases here on Wednesday, the ACB is contemplating to take him into its custody to question him for a detailed probe. A day after Rao’s arrest at his residence in Ashoknagar, several victims of Rao appreciated ACB officials on Wednesday for taking action against him.
