Telangana State Tax Officer in ACB net in bribe case

Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested B. Vasantha Indira, a Deputy Commercial Tax Officer in Narayanaguda Circle, when she allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 35,000 from a complainant for showing official favour to overlook discrepancies in the accounts of the complainant.

The ACB officials said Indira performed her public duty improperly and dishonestly and added that the bribe amount was recovered at her instance and her right hand fingers yielded positive in the chemical test. Officials said they produced Indira before the special court for ACB cases in Nampally after which the court remanded her to judicial custody.
