Apple Reportedly Cancels iPhone Hardware Subscription Service
Tech giant Apple reportedly stopped working on a hardware subscription service for iPhones that lets subscribers get new iPhones every year.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple was working on the subscription service in 2022 and it was supposed to launch that year but was delayed due to software bugs and software concerns.
Apple was aiming to “to sell more iPhones and generate a greater amount of recurring revenue” with the subscription service.
This halt of the subscription service follows Apple’s shutdown of its Pay Later service in the US less than a year after the launch.
Apple offers installment plans to pay for an iPhone as it had stopped working on the subscription service. The iPhone upgrade program lets you finance a new iPhone and AppleCare Plus over 24 months. Users can upgrade to a new iPhone if they pay the equivalent of 12 months.
