ShopClues to target south Indian traders
ShopClues has a large aggregation of merchants in the country with over four lakh merchants selling on its platform, said Mr Kochar.
Chennai: Aiming to work with three lakh merchants from South India, online marketplace ShopClues has started a campaign to interact and educate small merchants to use their platform to sell their products.
Doing business with small merchants would help them market their products while save ShopClues huge margin costs, Nitin Kochar, VP, Shopclues told Deccan Chronicle. “We want to work with regional merchants who produce exquisite merchandise, for inst ance, in saris. These would sell on our marketplace, and also will not demand huge margins unlike the established players.”
ShopClues has a large aggregation of merchants in the country with over four lakh merchants selling on its platform, said Mr Kochar. “Our next aim is to connect with merchants in the South specifically for a strong market in products like fashion including saris exclusive to south, footwear, utensils, toys and baby care.”
According to him, the five-year-old electronic market, which is now among the largest e-commerce sites in India, caters largely to value-conscious customers from tier-2 and tier-3 cities of India.
Asked about the huge target of three lakh merchants from the south, he said, “South is a big demand territory as well as there is a big demand fashion and lifestyle products from here.”
Assuring no compromise on the quality of products sold over ShopClues, he said, “We take product reviews seriously and closely work with merchants to ensure the quality of products being sold is good,” he added. Currently, Shop Clues has over 35 per cent of its online sales from South India, according to company provided inputs.
