Razer Phone 2 scheduled for late 2018 launch
The successor to the Razer phone is expected to come with the latest Qualcomm chipset.
Last year, Razer launched its first gaming smartphone and it received favourable reviews from critics the world over. For those thinking that it was a one and done thing, then you’re mistaken as the Razer Phone 2 is going to debut this year.
According to a report by GSMArena, Razer VP, Chen Xiaoping said that the next iteration of the Razer Phone is expected to launch by the end of 2018. Speaking at the annual China Joy 2018 game conference in Shanghai, Xiaoping said the new smartphone should be expected in China by December and that revealing this device was in the pipeline.
As to what chipset the Razer Phone will use, rumours are circulating that the brand will use Qualcomm’s next flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 855 as they usually announce their flagship chipset in early December.
The report goes on to state that Xiaoping stated that the Razer Phone 2 would feature the latest chipset, however, he refrained from mentioning which one it would be. The original Razer Phone came with a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 8GB of RAM and a 5.7-inch QHD IGZO LCD screen that had a 120Hz refresh rate. The battery found here was 4000mAh and it supported Quick Charge 4+ and the handset was powered by Android Nougat but was then updated to Android Oreo in the first quarter of 2018.
