Bewitching beauty!
Soundarya will be seen with Srinagara Kitty in 'Paru wife of Devdas'.
Even as she made her debut in Sandalwood, her every move in the industry was closely watched and rightly so, as she represents a legacy which her mother Dr Jayamala, a veteran actress has left behind.
Soundarya Jayamala, had to face a few hiccups prior to her debut film 'Godfather' with Real star Upendra. Now, she is on a roll and has even bagged a Tamil movie which will be shot soon.
Talking about her experince in 'Paru wife of Devdas' with Srinagara Kitty, Soundarya says, “When I first heard the story from the director, Kiran Govi sir, I instantly fell in love with the character, as it resembles a part of me in real life. I could easily relate to the character in the movie. 'Paru wife of Devadas' is a simple love story and has no resemblance to the iconic characters of Paru and Devadas. It is just a plain love story about Parvathi, an innocent girl who falls in love with a naughty boy called Devdas! It is obvious that the title refers to Paru and Devdas but there is no link to that story in anyway.”
Soundarya is playing the role of a journalist who is an Iyengar girl in the film. However, in her next project 'Simhadri', opposite Vijay, she plays a diametrically opposite character. “'Simhadri' is a complete turn around for me, wherein I am portraying the role of a naughty village girl. Despite the fact that there was hardly a month’s gap between 'Paru wife of Devdas' and 'Simhadri', I took it up because it is being completed in one schedule,” she says.
On her mother, film producer and former KFCC president, Jayamala’s influence on her career, Soundarya says,“My mother who has been in in the industry for decades has left a great legacy. She plays a major role in all my endeavours and is a great inspiration to me. I am very careful while taking up projects, I emphasise on respectability of the characters while portraying them on screen and not merely on the commercial elements attached to them. I just make sure that it does not hamper my mother’s legacy.”
Soundarya further adds, “So far as my career is concerned, I am lucky that I have taken the best decisions so far. Neither am I a part of any rat race and nor am I worried with the kind of comments passed regarding my acting skills. At the end of the day, we are all known as actors. I just focus on how I look in the movie and how I can enhance my acting skills and the rest, does not really bother me.”
Soundarya will soon start shooting for her untitled Tamil film opposite Jeevan, directed by Selva. She will be seen in a semi-urban avatar, and hopes for great year in 2014 with most of her films scheduled to hit the screen.
