Making an impression
We all put in a lot of effort to make the right first impressions. Then why wouldn’t the fresh crop of university students do something about it? In a bid to look their best on their first day of college, youngsters are making a beeline for aestheticians and cosmetic dermatologists to avail of non-surgical treatments.
Rupal Sharma, 17, says, "There is no harm in getting a treatment done for enhancing your looks. In college, everyone wants to look cool and happening. I got my lips enhanced because they were too thin."
Dr Chiranjiv Chhabra, dermatologist, Skin Alive Clinics, says, "The most sought-after procedures are lip enhancement. The dermal filler procedure is simple and quick. Since these are hyaluronic-acid (a natural component ), there are no side effects." Teenagers are definitely much more conscious about their skin conditions such as acne and pigmentation and presence of excessive unwanted hair. For such problems treatments like lasers, chemical peels and micro-dermabrasion are good. Abhilasha Jain, now a second year student recalls, "During school, I was ridiculed a lot for my acne marks. I don’t want this to be repeated in college, so, I opted for a peel procedure to get a smoother and clearer face." From the looks of it, freshers don’t mind shelling a few greens on quick-fix measures, if it gives desirable results.
