Mumbai: Fortune hasn’t favoured Ram Gopal Varma — the maker of cult films of Satya, Company etc. — at the box office of late. But a new collaboration with Balaji Telefilms’ Queen Bee, Ekta Kapoor, promises to change all that for RGV. Ekta, we hear, has agreed to produce a film project that RGV has been hoping to direct.

“The script of the film has been ready for a while. Unfortunately, Ramu had some trouble finding a producer for it. With Ekta’s backing, there’s nothing to stop Ramu’s film from being seen as the ‘project to watch out for’ in B’wood,” said an industry source.

Balaji’s CEO Tanuj Garg confirmed to us that “the project is in the pipeline, but it’s too premature to talk about at this stage”.

Apparently, Ramu and Ekta had met during the promotions of Ek Villain. “Ramu had bounced the idea off Ekta and in two days, she agreed to the script,” a source said. A formal announcement will be made soon.
