Hyderabad: Moved by the plight of veteran artiste Vedam Ramulu aka Sircilla Nagaiah, Telangana IT minister K.T. Rama Rao has come forward to not only help him financially, but has also asked officials to admit him in an old age home.
Nagaiah is a poor man and director Krish had signed him on for a role in Vedam. He then became Vedam Ramulu and his acting was appreciated by all. He went on to act in a few more films, but hadn’t been getting any roles recently. His condition was so bad that he had been reduced to begging for food. KTR has given him Rs 1 lakh and also made arrangements for him to join an old age home. Met ‘Siricilla Ramulu’ aka Nagaiah garu today. Handed over Rs 1 lakh as assistance from my side. Also arranged for old age artist pension through Govt. Spoke to Rajendra Prasad, president of MAA to also assist. Nagaiah incidentally is native of Guntur (sic), the minister tweeted.
It is also reported that the actor wanted to meet the new MAA president Rajendra Prasad several times, but the latter had not responded.
