Rajinikanth's Robot 2 to take on SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 in April next year

As the 'Baahubali' team announced their release date in mid-March, several trade experts felt that '2.0' would shift dates to avoid the clash.

Come April 14, 2017, SS Rajamouli’s 'Baahubali: The Conclusion' will face off against Shankar’s '2.0' (earlier titled 'Enthiran 2'). The massively successful film 'Baahubali' starring Prabhas and Rana Daggubatti went on to create cinema history by raking in around 500 cr at the Box Office. The film even went on to bag a National Award in the Best Feature Film category.

As the 'Baahubali' team announced their release date in mid-March, several trade experts felt that '2.0' would shift dates to avoid the clash. However, according to reports, the war of sequels is on as '2.0' team is expected to go ahead with their April 14, 2017 release.

While 'Baahubali' is set in ancient India where an adventurous man gets involved in a decades old feud between two warring people, '2.0' revolves around a scientist and his findings.

On one hand, 'Baahubali' boasts of ensemble cast comprising of Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah, on the other, 'Robot 2' stars Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. The two are touted to be India's most expensive movies and it will be interesting to see if the makers will be able to recover the cost.
