Kamal's Thevar Magan 2 is biased': Priyadarshini
Priya also questions Kamal's motive in starting the project to produce a sequel to Thevar Magan.
Priyadarshini, director of the biopic on former CM Jayalalithaa, has hit back at Kamal Haasan for prejudging the film and claiming ‘It is a ‘biased’ view of a party member which will be useful to them.” Priya also questions Kamal’s motive in starting the project to produce a sequel to Thevar Magan.
She says, “It came as a surprise when, all of a sudden, Mr Kamal Haasan, after launching his party, announced a sequel to his 1992 film Thevar Magan. And I feel it is done with a political motive and selfish intention only. I would call Thevar Magan 2 ‘biased’ and Makkal Needhi Maiam as ‘biased’.”
Priyadaarshini had only recently announced her project on former Chief Minster J. Jayalalithaa with Nithya Menon to essay Amma. The first look and title of The Iron Lady was also unveiled and the tagline read - ‘A Story of Revolutionary Leader’.
When Kamal Haasan was asked to comment on the Jaya biopic and the tagline hailing her as a ‘revolutionary leader’ when she was convicted in DA case, the Makkal Needhi Maiam party leader said, “That is because their party members are biased and they want to celebrate a subject that is very useful for them. It is a biased view of a party member who is myopic to any faults of their leader”.
Lashing out on his comments, Priyadaarshini says, “The film is in preproduction stage and without getting the facts correct, Mr Kamal had stated that it is ‘biased’. It looks like as if I am making the project on behalf of a party. I don’t belong to any party and I am producing the film through my own banner Papertale Pictures. And I have been inspired by Jayalalithaa madam’s strong personality right from my young age. That was my main reason to direct a film on Amma.”
