Adding a folk twist' to the Thirukkural
A grand function to unveil the CD titled, Naatukural', is being organised, along with a live show by Noor and Marudhu.
Music composer Taj Noor is attempting something which other composers have not touched so far. He is lending a musical rendition in folk form to the Thirukkural, the classic Tamil literature written by Thiruvalluvar.
Speaking about his new venture to DC, Noor says, “I have taken seven couplets from the Inbatthu Paal (dealing with love) chapter, and have given different tunes in folk form to each of the kurals. This is based on the commentary written by IAS Officer Balakrishnan on Thirukkural. The highlight is that ace artist Tratsky Marudhu has painted pictures for each of the couplets, even as I composed the music.”
A grand function to unveil the CD titled, ‘Naatukural’, is being organised, along with a live show by Noor and Marudhu. Several celebrities including Vairamuthu, Bharathiraja, Sivakumar, playback singers Velmurugan, Chinnaponnu, Kavitha Gopi, among others will be participating.
