Kakinada: Kakinada district collector Shanmohan Sagili announced that graduates wishing to enroll as voters for the upcoming MLC elections in the graduate constituency, scheduled for March 2025, can do so until December 9.

In a press statement on Friday, the collector informed that the first phase of voter enrollment concluded at the end of October, and the draft voter list will be published on November 23. Graduates who have not yet registered can still enroll by submitting their graduate certificate (such as a 10+2+3 or 10+3) along with the voter application. The signature of a Gazetted Officer is not required for the application; however, applicants will need to show their original degree certificate or a Gazetted Officer-attested photo copy when the voter registration officials visit their homes. Shanmohan also encouraged all graduates from the Godavari districts to enroll as voters in the Graduate Constituency.

On another note, the collector discussed the ongoing efforts to combat child abuse. Following instructions from Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, a six-month-long "Child Safe Campaign" will be launched by various departments including DWMA, DRDA, Rural Development, and Panchayat Raj. A video titled "Child Safe Kakinada" will be circulated through all media platforms, and it will also be screened for two minutes before the start of all government programs. Additionally, two helpline numbers, 1098 and 7331126044, have been set up for reporting child abuse incidents.

Shanmohan also provided an update on the APAAR (Andhra Pradesh Academic and Administrative Record) generation, reporting that 70% of the process has been completed. He emphasized the importance of standardizing student records and ensuring that all certificates, including birth certificates, Aadhaar numbers, and APAAR numbers, match across documents. He instructed Tahsildars to issue birth certificates for students within one week.
