Vijayawada:YSRC president and former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy consoled the families of two young women, who had lost their lives following brutal attacks in Guntur and Kadapa districts.

He accused the “Red Book” TD-led NDA alliance government of failing to curb the rising crimes against women.

On behalf of YSRC, party chief Jagan Mohan Reddy announced ₹10 lakh ex-gratia for families of victims in six similar cases. He asked the TD-led regime to provide ₹10 lakh financial assistance to the victims' families.

The former chief minister underlined that in just four-and-a-half months, 77 rapes, seven murders and 5 suicides have been reported. Yet, the government has taken no substantive action to prevent such crimes or bring the perpetrators to justice. He accused the ruling TD of shielding its party members who have committed heinous crimes, fostering a culture of impunity and disregard for justice.

In Badvel of Kadapa district, Jagan Mohan Reddy met the family of Dastagiramma, who had been the victim of a gruesome murder. He underlined that only after it became known that he would visit the area did the TD government take steps to provide aid to the family.

The YSRC president warned that if the Naidu government continued its inaction and bias in handling such cases, it would face a significant backlash from the public. He wanted the government to act responsibly by addressing the root causes of these issues and providing necessary support to victims and their families.
